The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is a referral center for high-risk adult and pediatric patients. Our specialists combine extensive experience and skill with the most advanced technologies and procedures to provide complete surgical care for complex diseases of the heart, chest, lungs and esophagus. The division is recognized for research-based, multidisciplinary approaches to surgery and for providing expert care in the following primary areas:

Cardiovascular Surgery

The cardiovascular surgeons have advanced training and experience with many conditions and surgical procedures including: aortic surgery; valve repair and replacement; and coronary bypass surgery. The surgeons with interdisciplinary team of experts, including cardiologists and nurses, provide comprehensive care for children requiring surgery. The common surgeries preformed in children include: Coarctation of the Aorta; Aortic Valve Stenosis; Atrial and VentricularSeptal Defects; Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome; Patent DuctusArteriosus; Patent Foramen Ovale; Pulmonary Artery Stenosis; Pulmonary Atresia; Pulmonary Valve Stenosis; Tetralogy of Fallot; Transposition of the Great Arteries; and TruncusArteriosus.

General Thoracic Surgery

The general thoracic surgery team provides expansive services for the surgical treatment of non-cardiac benign and malignant diseases of the chest, including the lungs, esophagus, chest wall, airway, mediastinum and diaphragm Many of our therapies are performed using minimally invasive techniques such as video-assisted thoracic surgery or VATS and laparoscopic surgery.
